In this course
Musil appears primarily as a modernist touchstone for thinking about fragmentation and the absence of stable subjectivity in complex systems. His unfinished *The Man Without Qualities* models the epistemological crisis that emerges when individual identity dissolves into the machinic pluralities and non-human constituencies that contemporary theory must now address. The readings invoke his work to suggest that the formal indeterminacy of modernist literature prefigures the cybernetic and algorithmic fragmentation we now experience as lived reality.
